GOT BOOST?

Our mission at Cheap Trix Racing is to engineer and build cars that are competitive and reliable with limited tools, budgets and manpower.

4/30/09 - No new racing news. Tony will soon be graduating and begin persuit of his engineering career, so the white CRX will go into hybernation for a while. The 4WD wagon will soon be sold contact us if interested in purchasing it. Also a new page is being added to display the economy performance of Tony's daily driver, a 1993 Honda Del Sol Si so watch for it here

11/23/08 - Finally uploaded the VIR video on the video page. check it out here

10/6/08 - CTR's first ever Time Attack event at VIR went fairly well this weekend. Mark posted a fastest lap around the main course's 3.27 miles of 2:31.122. Amazingly, this was acheived while running stock internals on the completely un-tuned B16 and 17" wheels and street tires. The good news is the car is still together and running, and the knowledge gained over the weekend of testing will allow us to make the changes necessary to improve the car for the next track day. A full list of the Redline Time Attack results can be found HERE and a video will be coming soon!

9/27/08 - A new member has joined the team. Long time friend Mark Johnson will now be showing off his project CRX time-attacker on our website. The car is street legal and on the road for tuning. The plan is to hit VIR for the GT Live Redline Time-Attack race on October 3rd, 4th and 5th. Check out his page HERE or a short intro video HERE and check out the GT live event details at GTLiveTour.com

7/21/08 - Well, good and bad came from the dyno day this past Saturday. The new boost controller was installed on Saturday morning, but it didn't operate correctly and ended up hurting performance. We made 134whp and 126tq with almost no boost. The good news is that the few times that we did have boost (like at 7000rpm) the fuel map was perfect and there was no detonation. This means that we can fix the wastegate and boost control issues and head straight to the track. Once it is performing where it should be on the track again, we will consider retrying the dyno because I do want to know how much power it is making. I will post as soon as we have a planned date to hit the drag strip. -Tony

7/16/08 - CTR is planning to hit the Dyno at Tru Dyno Sports LLC in Conover, NC for their dyno day on Saturday 7/19/08. This will be the first time we have had our most powerful Honda on the dyno and we hope to make some decent numbers. Everyone is welcome to join us and you can dyno your own vehicle for $45.
-Tony

7/3/08 - The first half of this year turned out to be another long hiatus for CTR. I am a new daddy (which makes Mike a new grandpa) and it has left us a little short on time for rebuilding. But the CRX is finally back together again. This time we are running a new headgasket and a digital ignition with boost retard and a 2 stage rev limiter. Hopefully the new combination, along with more detailed and thorough tuning, will yield a more reliable motor while still producing faster times. We'll keep you posted. -Tony
